eBay is laying off about 9% of its workforce, roughly 1,100 jobs, in its second round of cuts this year, according to an internal memo from CEO Jamie Iannone reviewed by Reuters. The company wants to simplify operations and move resources to its fastest-growing areas. Affected employees will be told “in the coming days,” the memo said.
Iannone wrote that the plan requires “thoughtful choices about where we focus and invest.” The memo did not say which teams or locations are affected. Reuters calculated the number of jobs from the 12,300 employees eBay had at the end of 2025.

Oct 2026: About 1,100 jobs (Reuters estimate), 9% of the workforce
The second round in eight months
In February, eBay cut about 800 jobs, about 6% of its full-time staff, saying it wanted to “align our structure with our strategic priorities,” according to TechCrunch. That came after cuts of about 1,000 jobs in early 2024 and about 500 in early 2023. Together, the two 2026 rounds add up to roughly 1,900 jobs.
The cuts come while the business is growing: eBay shares are up nearly 40% this year, compared with about 12% for the S&P 500, according to Reuters. The company reports quarterly results next week.
