How we count

  • We add a layoff when the company confirms it: an SEC filing, an earnings release or call, or a memo or statement reported by a news outlet.
  • “Jobs cut” uses the number the company gave. Some companies give only a cost or a percentage; we show what they disclosed and do not estimate.
  • Reports based on unnamed sources are labeled “Reported” and hidden unless you tick “Include reported”.
  • Voluntary buyouts and attrition are noted as such. UPS, for example, said its 2026 reductions will come mainly through attrition and a voluntary buyout for drivers.

Not in the list yet

  • Omnicom: reports say the ad group is targeting about 15,000 fewer staff by the end of 2026 after buying Interpublic. We have not found a company statement with that number.
  • General Motors: the widely shared “1,300” was a temporary layoff at the Factory Zero EV plant in March, not a permanent cut. GM’s permanent cuts this year came in separate, smaller rounds.
  • Renault: up to 2,400 engineering jobs, mostly outside the US.

Know about a layoff that should be here? Report it and we will check it against a primary source.
