Pick your job and your industry, and add your employer if you like. The check compares your situation with three public data sets and tells you whether your exposure is lower, moderate or higher than average, with the numbers behind it.
What kind of work do you do?
Pick the closest match.
Which industry are you in?
Your employer’s main business.
Who do you work for?
Optional. We check it against every confirmed layoff in our 2026 tracker.
Nothing you enter leaves your browser. An estimate from public data, not a prediction about you.
How the check works
- Your job and AI: scores from Microsoft Research’s study of 200,000 Copilot conversations, “Working with AI: Measuring the Applicability of Generative AI to Occupations” (Tomlinson and others), using the occupation scores the authors published under a CC BY 4.0 license. We show where your job ranks among about 785 US occupations.
- Your industry: the average monthly layoffs and discharges rate over the latest 12 months from the Bureau of Labor Statistics JOLTS survey, compared with the rate for all US jobs (1.08%).
- Your employer: confirmed 2026 cuts from our tech layoff tracker, each with a source.
What your result does not mean
A high AI score means generative AI can already help with much of the work in that job. It does not mean the job will disappear: the study’s authors stress that AI applicability is not the same as job loss. Many layoffs in 2026 had nothing to do with AI. In our tracker, 19 of 74 confirmed tech layoff announcements this year cited AI in the company’s own words.
Questions people ask
Will AI replace my job?
For most people, AI changes parts of the job before it replaces it. Jobs built around writing, translating, answering customers and selling information are the most exposed in the Microsoft data; hands-on jobs such as nursing assistants and construction trades are the least.
