Virginia WARN rules

Virginia does not have a WARN law of its own, so the federal WARN Act applies. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, it generally covers employers with 100 or more employees and requires at least 60 calendar days of written notice before a plant closing or mass layoff. In Virginia, notices go to the Rapid Response team at Virginia Works, the state workforce agency.
